Privacy Policy
We protect your privacy and are transparent about data use. Questions? Email [email protected].
Overview
GitNotifier is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and how we safeguard it. It applies to information collected through our application and related services.
Consent
By using GitNotifier, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to route notifications and improve the product:
- Service data. The mapping between your GitHub identity and Slack (and related identifiers) so we can deliver notifications. We do not log sensitive payloads—for example, we do not log PR webhook body content or other sensitive details.
- GitHub. We only have access consistent with the GitHub App permissions you grant. We do not access or store your source code.
- Slack. The app does not read your Slack content. It only posts messages to your direct messages (and to channels you configure) for notifications.
- Analytics. We collect tracking data for analytics (e.g. which buttons are clicked, errors or bugs that surface) to improve the platform and user experience.
How We Use Your Information
- Deliver notifications and honor your preferences
- Improve the product and fix bugs using analytics
- Provide support and respond to inquiries
- As needed for security and legal compliance
Third-Party Services
We integrate with GitHub and Slack. Their privacy policies apply to their services. We use data from them only as needed to provide GitNotifier.
Data Deletion and Uninstalls
- When you uninstall the GitNotifier GitHub app from GitHub, we receive that event and delete all data we hold for that integration.
- When you remove the app from your Slack workspace, we clean up all related data on our side.
- Deleting your Clerk user (e.g. from your account settings) deletes any data we have tied to your GitHub login or user.
- You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Please send the email from the same email address as the one used to sign up for the service.
Data Retention
We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Uninstalling the GitHub app, removing the Slack app, or deleting your account triggers cleanup as described above.
Your Data Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Contact us at [email protected]. Certain exceptions may apply as permitted by law.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on our platform and update the effective date.
